About

Wessex Cancer Support

Wessex Cancer Support provides free, local and personalised emotional support to anyone affected by cancer in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight. It is a charity which relies on donations to provide this support. Through its four cancer support centres in Chandler’s Ford, Bournemouth, Waterside (Hythe) and Newport (Isle of Wight), the charity offers a drop-in service, professional counselling, complementary therapies, activities, support groups and courses. It runs weekly drop-in sessions in Andover and provides services online so people can access support from the comfort of their own home. It also runs services in the heart of the community, including popular Sing for Life choirs and transport on its Daisy Buses to help Isle of Wight and Channel Islands patients get to their hospital appointments on the mainland. No act of kindness is too small and there are many ways to get involved without spending a penny. You could volunteer in any of its six shops, support centres or at events; follow the charity on social media or donate your preloved items to its shops. If you feel you’d like to make a financial contribution, you can donate online or sign up for one of the charity’s events. Perhaps your organisation could choose Wessex Cancer Support as its Charity of the Year, sponsor an event or provide auction prizes. Whatever your contribution, it’ll make a huge difference to local people affected by cancer.
