Julia's House is you local children's hospice, looking after the most seriously ill children in Dorset and Wiltshire. These children need 24 hour care for their complex and often rare medical conditions, which puts a huge amount of pressure on their families. They are unlikely to have a cure for their condition and are sadly not expected to live beyond early adulthood. Our dedicated team of nurses, carers, therapists, family support workers and hospice doctors provide a lifeline of care. We offer clinical, emotional and practical support and essential respite breaks to give exhausted families time out from round-the-clock care, helping to prevent them from reaching breaking point. Each family, we support can tailor the care they receive in whichever way suits them best. Crucially, Julia's House supports the whole family and not just the seriously ill child - we're there for parents, siblings, grandparents. We provide respite care for a few hours, a day or overnight in our hospices or in families' homes. We also provide emergency care and the choice and support that families need at the end of a child's life, where we work closely with paediatric palliative care specialist and the wider community medical team. We have been providing life-changing care for the most seriously ill local children and their families for two decades. Care that is critical for families struggling to cope but would never have been there, if it wasn't for Julia's House. Julia's House relies on public donations, fundraising and legacies for 92% of the money needed to keep providing our vital care - we receive only eight per cent Government funding. Without the support of the local community, we would not be able to run this critical service for the growing number of families in Dorset and Wiltshire that depend on our care and support.
