Some people over think massively when it comes to what they should wear to a business expo as they know first impressions count for a lot.
Yes, it is important to be yourself when you go to business shows but if your usual attire is tracksuits and a jumper, we may not recommend that. Think of it this way, businesses spend a lot of money to exhibit at business expos, you pay for the space, you pay for the resources you need when you’re there, why would you then turn up in scruffy dress?
For B2B expos, it is considered “appropriate” to wear smart business attire. At such events, you are representing your business, so a level of professionalism is needed for people to believe and trust in you and your business. Whilst looking presentable, you also want to look approachable.
One thing to think about and to take into consideration is your industry. If you work in the construction industry, smart jeans, boots and a jumper may well be okay however, if you work in sales for example, you may dress in more office appropriate clothing. Go by the rule of “would I wear this is my business meeting?”.
Oh and don’t forget you’ll be on your feet all day, think comfort and practicality.
